Weekend Coffee Share ☕️

If We Were Having Coffee. . .

I’d tell you that my Starbucks-dar is broken. A new Starbucks opened up across the street from my office building and I didn’t even know it. I rarely go to Starbucks for their coffee these days, but I do enjoy their Lemon Pound Cake and a Venti Lite Ice Peach Green Tea Lemonade and a potentially new summer favorite Venti Lite ice Mango Black Tea Lemonade. I gave up Starbucks flavored coffees not because of the overabundance of calories, but simply because their coffee is too strong. I have found a local coffee place called ink! Coffee, where I have developed an affinity for their Black & White. It’s rich and smooth and I kinda drink it like it’s water.

If We Were Having Coffee. . .

I’d tell you that I have an image burned into my corneas that I would really love to have etched out. First off, I hate taking the bus or rather public transportation period. It’s not the mode of transportation per se, it’s what’s on these modes of transportations I can’t stand.

So, what did I see? Well, I wasn’t looking for it. It just kinda happened. I was reading my book and the bus driver for whatever reason slammed on the brakes, which prompted folks to jerk about a bit. Well,  the chick sitting across from me had on a skirt and I along with the dude sitting next to me saw all her goods. The guy and I looked at each other and immediately gave the smile, a chuckle, and the head shake of shame; but apparently she wasn’t phased by it because she didn’t readily close her legs. Oh, and she was sitting with her husband.

I’d tell you that I forgot to include this last week. I’m participating in Nerd in the Brain‘s Christmas in July. I received my recipients name last week and I’m super stoked. I can’t wait to for them to receive their gift. I think I kinda went overboard, but oh well. 🙂

If We Were Having Coffee. . .

I’d tell you that last week while reading the various weekend coffee share posts, Trent from Trent’s World posted a #BeReal photo of himself and I thought the concept was pretty cool.

The #BeReal movement started with HastyWords when she posted a photo of herself being real – not made up and fully put together.

If you’d like to find out how you can join the #BeReal movement check out The Sisterwives.

Here’s me before all the face paint and getting all dolled up to go check the mail. An exaggeration of course, but not for some.

  1. I haven’t been to a Starbucks in ages, because there are so many better coffee shops in NOLA, but when I was working at the university, I went a lot because there was one in the library right next to where I worked—proximity, I suppose, though I prefer the Now to the Then.

    Also, love that photo! 🙂

  2. I like Starbucks because it is so strong. But that’s just me – the stronger the coffee the better.

I’m glad you participated in the #BeReal campaign! Nice picture!

Oh, thinking of Nerd in the Brain, who you mentioned, and photos, did you send her a picture for the project she’s working on? I wonder how that’s going, she hasn’t brought it up in a while.

    • I used to drink Starbucks all the time and then one day I thought Yuck it’s too strong. When I do get a cup I usually have them add about an inch or so of hot water to it.

Thanks for sharing your #BeReal! I probably wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. It’s important to have a healthy self image that doesn’t always involve the superficial.

I missed that project Nerd in the Brain is working on. I’ll have to go and look for it.

      • I saw and liked the #Be Real and so wanted to pass it along. Glad you did it 🙂 The thing nerd in the Brain was doing was in ways similar to #BeReal. She was collecting random selfies and then having people say nice things about them. Her goal was to make a video with the pictures with nice things said about the picture. I haven’t heard about it in a month or two – I’ll have to ask her.

  3. Wow, I love your excitement for #BeReal, and thank you for taking part and linking in – it’s fabulous to know that it’s having an impact. The best thing about the campaign is that you just are how you are, and should be accepted as such – not a scrap of makeup, or full-face on…it’s YOUR real, in that moment, and that’s what matters.

So happy you like the idea, and love your pic 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by. I am excited by the campaign. It’s important that we don’t always focus on the superficial. We are so much more than that. I hope the #BeReal campaign will continue to take off and folks will start to become more self confident and feel more comfortable with their pre made up selves.

      Glad you liked the pic.
