Today’s Daily Post is:
We’re entering the final days of 2014 — how did you do on your New Year’s resolutions these past 11.75 months? Is there any leftover item to be carried over to 2015?
I learned a long time ago not to set New Year’s resolutions. I usually failed pretty early on. Instead I set little goals as I go along in order to achieve that one big goal at a specified time. That way if I fail I don’t feel so deflated. I can easily pick myself up and move on by either repeating the failed goal and/or rethinking and recalibrating it.
Having said that, I have some pretty lofty goals for blogging next year. I’m not sure if I will achieve them; but I have a plan, which is simply:
Plan early. Write early
Part of my 2015 blogging plan is:
- 20/20 Hines Sight – Post every day
- A Short A Day – Write a short story every day
- The Broken Spine – Hold fast to the existing Editorial Calendar
- Visit and comment on at two blogs per day
And believe me when I say that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I have lots of blogging goals and thinking about them makes me a little uneasy. I’ve thought that perhaps I should abandon some of them, but the overachiever in me says that’s not an option. Most of them overlap in some way shape or form, so I think when I connect the dots and find all the common denominators my blogging goals will be a lot less daunting.
I’m still in the planning stages of how I’m going to make all of this work, to include having some semblance of a social life, working out, white water rafting, while looking for a job in Colorado (already know where I’m staying), maintaining my sanity, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
Now my personal life goals are a lot more complicated than my blogging goals, which needs to a separate post all together. I’ll sum up a few of big ones.
- Finish Master’s in Adult Education
- Find job in Colorado
- Move to Colorado
Hopefully accomplish all of this in the next 6 months on top of my blogging goals, on top of maintaining some semblance of a social life, so forth and so on. And that’s that, I think.

Wow! I wish I can commit to blogging everyday. I’ll think of an achievable target to keep me going even if I get busy with work. 2014, I planned to go back to writing and I’d like to believe I did good but inconsistent. Plan early. Write early. Thanks for the reminder.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it, but I’m certainly going to try. Work does tend to get in the way of blogging. ☺
