Day 6: F is for Faith

This post was always going to be about Faith, but after reading The Artistic Christian‘s “E: Edgar Allan Poe and Universal Emotion, I got to thinking about my life’s trials and tribulations, my Christian walk, and my faith. In his post he says, “. . .when you remove faith from a person’s life, the result is the sort of raw terror and restlessness of spirit. . .”

I don’t know of any Christian that hasn’t at some point wrestled with his/her faith and asked, “Why God?” Continue reading

Day 26: Z is for Zoroastrianism

Today is bittersweet as it’s the last day for the Blogging A to Z Challenge😥

I started the challenge with Religion and I’m ending with Religion. Quite Apropos, I think considering that Revelations 22:13 says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last” (King James Version).

Appropriate or Inappropriate?

I typically go my church’s 7 am service. Today is Couples Sunday and our pastor gave his spiel about couple’s staying together, Valentine’s Day, and love, then it was time for ‘Meet and Greet’.  I was a little stunned at what came across the speakers — Beyonce’s “Love on Top“.

I’m all for keeping abreast of pop culture and bringing it in as a teachable moment, but not as background music to meeting and greeting visitors and one another. I’m not a club or a dance party, I’m at church and I am of the opinion that either you have no music or play softly in the background or if you must use a pop song  choose one that can double as a Christian song (i.e. Bette Midler‘s “Wind Beneath My Wings or Josh Groban‘s “You Raise Me Up or some such song).

Chime in. What are your thoughts?
