If we were having
coffee green tea. . .
I’d tell you this post was originally meant for yesterday, but then life happened and I didn’t get a chance to finish it.
I’m in a much better mood today than yesterday. In part because it’s the weekend, but mostly because I’m back on caffeine. Not coffee caffeine, but green tea caffeine. That giving up caffeine cold turkey was pure shenanigans. I’m glad that whatever gremlin possessed me to do that has been excised. I’ve never been so bloody irritable in my life. Well that’s a lie. If I don’t eat, then things can get pretty ugly and this could be you. . . Continue reading
When we hear the word taboo, most of us know this relates to a scandalous topic that the general population does not want to talk about. Taboo is just that; a topic or practice that has long been forbidden or is uncomfortable for people to think and/or talk about.
Of all the taboo topics in the world I think mental illness wins first place for the longest running taboo subject of all time. We have evolved and come around in matters of sex, gender identity and homosexuality but mental illness……that’s still something most people would rather keep locked up in the dark taboo closet because it is just too uncomfortable to get in to.
Mental illness is not just the crazy killer type depicted in Hollywood movies or the crazy guy on the corner yelling at the air. Many times it something more miniscule like anxiety or depression. Just like back in the 80’s when people thought AIDS was spread by air or touch, mental illness suffers this same ignorance, this same mis-education of sorts. Continue reading
I’m so excited! 😀
Sarah from the Truth Shall Set You Free So Don’t Be a Crybaby will be sharing her hometown on Saturday, June 28th. I can’t wait to read about her hometown. I really enjoy finding out where people are from and about their hometowns, states, countries. The real inside perspective. Not the media hubbub.
Sarah will also be doing the Breaking Taboo article in July. Super stoked about that. I’m not going to tell you what it is. You’ll just have to come back the first Wednesday in July and read it.
Also, Amanda over at From One Crazy Life to Another will be contributing monthly Breaking Taboo articles the third Wednesday of each month.
Make sure to stop by and read Sarah’s and Amanda’s blogs. I enjoy them and I’m not just saying that.
I hope you enjoy. If you’d like to be contributor please don’t hesitate to let me know. Fill out the FORM by clicking HERE and let me know if you’re intrested in showing us your Hometown or if you’ve got a Breaking Taboo topic you’d like to discuss or BOTH.
Looking forward to hearing from you. 🙂
Would you like to be guest blogger on 20/20 Hines Sight? If so, there are two ways you may contribute: (1) My Hometown and (2) Breaking Taboo.
I had an ‘Ah Ha’ moment a couple of weeks ago after the Blogging A to Z Challenge and WordPress’s Blogging 201 ended. I already knew there are a lot of great bloggers out there form all over the world and I thought I’d open up the “My Hometown” segment to those of you that wanted to show my readers and me your hometown.
Whenever I meet someone one of my questions is, “Where are you from?” I know that’s a pretty generic question, right up there with, “How are you?” And most people ask out of some strange social politeness, but I ask because I genuinely want to know where you’re from. I like to know what other people’s hometowns are like and their culture.
I’m also opening up my once a month segment “Breaking Taboo.” I have come to realize that there are certain things that I’d really like to talk about and have a discussion on, but because of my lack of knowledge or experience in that area it would difficult for me write about it.
If you’re interested or you know of someone who may be interested in sharing their hometown or their “Breaking Taboo” story than fill out there form. My Hometown posts every Saturday (EST) and Breaking Taboo posts the first Wednesday of every month (EST). After I receive the form, I’ll send you an email with Guest Blogger Guidelines.
I hope everyone is having a good week thus far. There’s been a lot going on with me and 20/20 Hines Sight. So just a really quick recap. I decided to take a full class load this semester and I’m running two blogs. I want 20/20 Hines Sight to be a space where I share my thoughts and opinions, share some squirrel moments, I want us to get to know each other.
So, in order to accomplish this I’ve come with the Breaking Taboo Series. The first installment has posted yesterday on mental illness. Breaking Taboo will post every Wednesday for the month of February. There are
