Day 25: Y is for Yodel

One more day until the Blogging A to Z Challenge is over and today’s letter is ‘Y’. Vidya gave Yodel and I immediately decided I was going to do a yodeling video. Or rather me learning how to yodel video.

I convinced my brother-in-law to video this lesson, which I procured from YouTube and bless his heart he tried not to laugh but needless to say he laughed till he cried. Although funny and exponentially entertaining I couldn’t subject any of you to that. Furthermore and perhaps more importantly, I couldn’t let that get out there onto the interwebs and I do have a reputation to protect. 🙂

Well, I can say that I tried something new that I never in a million years would have tried, and it was an EPIC FAIL!

So I leave you with this young professional yodeler, Taylor Ware.

Day 10: Justice

I’ve still got a few more letters to catch up before the Blogging A to Z Challenge is over. The letter ‘J’ was Day 10 and was supposed to be my Friday Fiction. I had the story percolating since before then, but I had one stipulation. It had to be a piece of micro fiction. And I went with Twitter fiction. 140 characters no more no less.

Justice is my name.

They wanted justice and in two days 5 hours they would have justice.

Justice was his name, but justice never served him.

Day 24: Monday Inspiration 4.28.14

Today is Day 24 of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Oh My! 🙂

The letter for today is ‘X’ and I had a bit of hard time coming up with a quote for today. There aren’t to many quotes out there that begin with the letter ‘x’, but I decided to go with a quote from Malcom X.

Don’t be in a hurry to condemn because he doesn’t do what you do or think as you think or as fast. There was a time when you didn’t know what you know today.

Day 15: Opinion

I’m in the process of catching up with my Blogging A to Z Challenge letters. Day 15 was the letter ‘O’ and I originally planned to pen something about Opinions. However my mom had open heart surgery and was progressing very quickly, then she had a set back and I thought, ‘One Step Forward, Two Steps Back.’

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine and both of us are quite opinionated. He, like most people of the male species have some bizarre, misguided notion that they are always right. Continue reading

Day 23: My Hometown – Washington Monument

I’ve been trying all day to decide on how to approach this piece of My Hometown. So, I decided to go with a few FAQs

Without a doubt one of the most recognized symbols in Washington, DC and perhaps the United States is the Washington Monument.

  1. Who designed the Washington Monument?
Robert Mills was the architect. His original design called for the monument to be 600 feet, but Thomas Casey who finished the monument was persuaded to widen the base thereby making the monument its current height
  2. How tall is the Monument?
The Washington Monument is the tallest obelisk in the world. It stands at 555 feet 5 1/8 inches tall and 55 feet wide at the base.
  3. Why does the color change on the outside of the monument?
There were two phases to building the monument. The first phase was done by a private organization, The Washington National Monument Society from 1848-1854. Continue reading
