Weekend Coffee Share

Good afternoon and come on in. I’ve prepared a few hors devours. Feel free to help yourself to the coffee and tea bar. It’s been a while since our last get together and I hope all is well with you and yours.

So, let’s get to catching up.

If we were having coffee. . . . I’d tell you that nothing much has really been going on. In my last coffee share I mentioned I was contemplating on starting a new blog or perhaps changing the focus of this one to primarily personal essays. I created a new blog, but then decided to give refocusing a try. Next week I’ll kick it off with a post called, “Who Am I?

If we were having coffee. . . . I’d tell you that last week I was at Target Continue reading

Weekend Coffee Share

I haven’t been around much lately. Either I’m working or tutoring or tutoring or working, but either way I don’t seem to have much time for me; which is really starting to suck. I was recently told that I work too much, which I’m starting to believe is true.

I started playing PokemonGo this week and I definitely see why it’s addicting. But for me it’s also a wee bit frustrating and by a wee bit, I mean a lot. There never seem to be any Pokemon around.

Let’s Lend a Helping Hand

These past few days have been a bit rough.

A coworker who I can’t say I know intimately got the phone call no parent should ever get on Wednesday afternoon. She has had two children a boy, 19 and a girl , 12. Her son was in a car accident and she needed to get to the hospital right away. After getting there she learned that her son passed away.

When we, her work family, found out about on Thursday it was perhaps the most solemn and sad day I had experienced in a long time. Although I don’t have children the news hit me like a ton of bricks. My heart sank. Several people cried.

Her son, Tanner, in just two short weeks was about to head to Marine Boot Camp. Apparently, Tanner always wanted to be a Marine (Ooh Rah) since he was child. His mom said that he thought they were they best and that he wanted to be a part of that.

I tell you this because she needs a bit of help. A GoFundMe account has been established to help pay for funeral expenses. A quote was given of $12,000 and at this time she’s not quite half there. If you are able and willing to donate any amount to help her it would be greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps.

If you’d like to donate, please click HERE.

Thank you in advance.

Weekly Smile – Music

I love most all music. I would have to say perhaps the only music I don’t particularly care for is Rap/Hip-Hop. Something has gone very wrong with it, since the days of my youth – Sugar Hill Gang, Kool Moe Dee, Doug E. Fresh and the like. Maybe I’ll have to feature them on a Flashback Thursday.

Anyway, back to or rather on to the Weekly Smile. Tuesday night I went to a concert a coworker invited me to – Andrew Bird. Continue reading

Weekly Smile

It’s been a while since my last Weekly Smile. Enjoy! and I hope it brings a smile to you my lovelies.

I love fresh flowers. It’s just something about them that, well. . . Puts a smile on my face. I haven’t had any since before I moved (still unpacking) and I’ve been feeling a little blue. So, I pulled out my handy dandy smartphone, Continue reading
