Weekend Coffee Share 12.19.15

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you this week has been pretty light. Nothing much has gone on. Or at least in my world it’s been pretty slow.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to jumpstart my creative writing. Once upon a time (no pun intended) I used to write short stories, plays, and screenplays quite a lot, but that went dormant once I went to college and I’ve never really recovered.  The goal is to freewrite not freetype every morning. I usually wake with a menagerie of ideas and if by chance I got nothin’, I’ll pick from the ideas jar.

The plan: Write for 10 minutes without stopping or lifting the pen from paper, after the time is up put it aside, later read over and edit, and post it the next day. And starting January 1st, you can check out my jibber jabber over on my short story blog.

It snowed in Denver on Tuesday, which isn’t particularly newsworthy; but it amazes me how they do absolutely nothing here to clear the streets. They don’t start plowing until well who knows when. Bizarre. With the amount of snow the DC area gets it would have shut down, but what I will say this at least they would have had the plows, salt and sand trucks on the road.

Whiz Kids tutoring had a little party Wednesday for the kids and my little girl volunteered me to help someone else. Yay. I was kind of looking forward to stuffing my face with mac & cheese and Sweedish meatballs, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. I don’t know if it’s kids today or if kids have always been this way. Deja asked me straight up if I had gotten her something for Christmas. I was slightly taken aback, but told her yes and she of course wanted it right then and there. I told her that I would give it to her mother so she can open it on Christmas day.

I finally finished my Christmas shopping. I’m usually done before December and if I find myself getting anything else it’s usually a little something extra for folks. I exceeded my budget a bit, but not by a lot. Now I’ve got fit all this stuff in my suitcase.

Oh yeah, I’m on countdown. It’s five days before I head home for Christmas. Super stoked. My nephew is coming home from Germany and he constantly complains how cold it is, so hopefully I can help him remedy that problem. I also made plans with a few folks I worked with in the DC office to get together while I’m there. Should be fun. And on top of that my mother told me it’s supposed to be in the 70s on Christmas day. Really?

It’s getting late and I must be on my way. I’ve got a lot to take care of before Monday and I’m quite behind.

  1. First of all, this is absolutely wonderful. You had me captivated the entire time. Secondly, I’ve missed your writing. It’s been a year, and I’m glad to see you still here. I remember when you first made 2020hines-sight. You’ve done well. I’m proud of you. 🙂 See you around WordPress friend.
