Day 1: One Thing I Want for Christmas

1 Thing you want for Christmas

I mulled this thing over a lot. And came up with probably what the average person comes up with – peace on earth, for people to get along, an end to all senseless violence, and yadda yadda yadda. But if I’m going along those lines and I tell you the truth – yes, I want all of those things and I could probably bring them about in a Stewie Griffin kind of way. . .

But since I don’t have the Stewie Griffin world domination tools, I guess I’ll have to settle with going home and being with my family for Christmas. It’s been nearly a year since I moved from Maryland to Colorado; although it seems like I’ve seen my family more this year than when I was living there. I’m looking forward to spending time with them that doesn’t include attending a funeral.

I’m especially looking forward to seeing my nephew who’s flying in from Germany. He’s making some serious strides over there – playing and coaching basketball. Since he’s playing he’s taken his team top and he’s doing the same thing with the kiddies.

I’m looking forward to seeing friends, I wasn’t able to connect with on my short trips back home. I’m also hoping that certain folks don’t get wind of my coming home because then there’ll be that obligatory: ‘sure let’s get together.’

It appears that my uncle estranged daughter is trying to make amends and I’m excited about that too. My mother told me that she was asked about me when they went out to lunch. She’s a few years older than me, so I don’t remember a whole lot about her. But no matter. I look forward to us sharing and getting to know each other.

Maybe it’s not world domination or maybe, just maybe. . .
