Yep, you read the title right. I’m grateful for Urgent Care.
This was not the post I had line up for today, but it is what it is.
A little background. I woke up yesterday (Saturday) and my left eye was read and puffy and it hurt, which is not unusual for this time of year. I have bad allergies and ragweed and leaf mold is really bad. So, I assumed it was that and would clear up after I put some allergy drops in and took some allergy meds.
Well, as the day went on it didn’t get any better, but it wasn’t get any worse. Then I started thinking that this is a bit odd because it’s only affecting one eye.
I went to bed and when I got up this morning the pain was 10x worse and it looked like I lost a fight. I weighed my options. Wait until tomorrow to call my ophthalmologist, go to the emergency room, or go to urgent care. I’m a cheap rat bastard, so I wasn’t going to the emergency room and plus I didn’t want to spend my Sunday there. The pain was/is enough to make me want to gouge my own eye out with a spoon, so I nixed waiting to see the ophthalmologist. So, urgent care it was.
The doctor confirmed my diagnosis — pink eye, but because it wasn’t oozing green or yellow goop (yet), he wasn’t willing to rule out bacterial pink eye. He thinks it’s viral, but just in case he’s treating me for bacterial. I love aggressive medical treatment because heaven knows I don’t want to come and see you if it’s not getting better.
I’ve since put in two courses of antibiotic eye drops and my eye looks better, but it still hurts like the dickens. Advil isn’t really helping, so I think I’m going to go for the hard stuff before I go to bed.

Oh gosh, I hope you feel better fast! It usually looks/feels nasty, but goes away pretty quickly when treated. No fun trying to blog with pink eye!

Thanks! 🙂 This is my first experience with it and I hope it goes away soon. The good thing is I no longer look like I went a round with Mike Tyson.

Thanks Sarah. Completely unexpected. And I am so glad the doctor is aggressive in treating it.

Well this is not an awesome thing to happen. I hope tomorrow is a better – and pain free – day. 🙂

I agree Snoskred. It’s horrible. The antibiotic eye drops are doing really well. Hopefully after 24 hours my eye won’t look like it’s been tie dyed pink and red.

I hope you feel better very quickly! Pink Eye is terrible, but usually it clears up pretty fast. Hopefully, tomorrow it will be MUCH better!

I hope tomorrow will better too. Supposedly it’s not bacterial, so I’m not contagious. It’s the pain associated with that really makes it bad. I’m calling the eye doctor tomorrow to make sure and maybe he’ll give me some numbing stuff.
